Can a Life Coach help me after Divorce? |
|
Whether the divorce has come to you after a careful thought out logical joint decision or an overwhelming out of control Tsunami, the after affects can leave us as unrecognisable shells, desperate to try and find our own identity once again.
The impact that this small seven letter word has can devastating and by navigating and understanding the impact this change has on our practical lives, we can start to believe we can move forward and find out who we are once again.
The process of change impacts on people in different ways however the emotions we go through when changing are the same. To rise above & reach the other side of these chaotic emotions, each emotion has to be worked through.
1. From telling ourselves “we can't believe this is happening” to not being willing to accept the current situation it is important to learn how this is impacting on us and how to start to accept the current situation.
2. Self-doubt and depression – This is the overwhelming feeling that we are incapable of dealing with the current situation. When we identify the skills that we may already have and how we can use these to start to rebuild our confidence this starts to lead to acceptance of the situation.
3. Acceptance and Testing - This is where we may start to take a few steps forward but ultimately there will be setbacks and so we learn how to accept the reality and start to set goals for ourselves. Goals that are achievable and will help reclaim who we are.
4. Searching for meaning – Searching for meaning – We start looking into the future creating productive habits that enable us to regain a new normal.
5. Normality – Routine and calm returns and we find new motivations to continually develop and grow looking towards our future happiness.
So how can this help and how can we implement this into our lives?
Understand that whatever chaos surrounds our lives regarding the divorce there is a process our emotions go through. We can't skip an emotion or ignore it the only way through it is to understand it and ask ourselves how can we move to the next stage in the kindest way know how. Challenging ourselves around the following questions.
* What aspects do I have control over?
* What can I do to make this happen?
* How would this be better than my current situation?
* What is the worst thing that can happen?
* Why do I feel this?
* What am I doing to keep myself healthy?
* Can I focus more on my diet, eating patterns, exercise and daily routine?
* Who can help me put these into place?
* What do I know about myself to be true and what do I do well?
* How do I enjoy what I am?
